About Us
The Australian Islamic Centre is an initiative by the Newport Islamic Society (NIS), located in Melbourne’s West. The NIS has been active in serving the community since it was established in 1989. As a non-for-profit organisation, the NIS carries out various activities in order to cater for the local Muslim community and for the betterment of the wider community.
Location: 23-31 Blenheim Rd, Newport, Victoria 3015
The establishment is a comprehensive complex with Worship, Educational and Recreational Facilities. The facility is still under construction and is taking place in 3 phases.
Phase 1 – Complete:
- A mosque with approximately 1200 square meters of prayer areas for both male and female worshippers.
- An Educational Centre consisting of a Library and Other facilities
- Offices
- Cafe and Restaurant
- Imam’s residence
- Two Guest houses
Phase 2 – In progress:
- A school with eight Class Rooms for Arabic and Islamic Studies
- The school will have dedicated study areas
Phase 3 – In progress:
- Indoor Recreational and Functions Centre
- Mens Gym
- Females Gym
- Multi-function Hall
